Banana Berry Smoothie

Give me a fruit smoothie any time of day and I will most gladly accept. I love an ice cold smoothie, loaded with fruit and packed with nutrition. It’s obvious isn’t it – the best way to get your daily intake of vitamins?

A berry smoothie of course. I used stop by Jamba Juice to buy one of their delicious smoothies, especially during those hot summer months. My most frequently purchased menu item is their Banana Berry Smoothie. I love it!

I’ve tried many of their other smoothies but I always end up returning to the banana berry. I love how it’s a bit sweeter than some of the other more tart options and I also favor the combination of bananas and blueberries in smoothies.

Rather than going there to get smoothies I just started making them at home, it’s more convenient and cheaper too. When I’m sick I still request a Jamba from my husband though =).

If you want to make this healthier (say for breakfast) you can replace the frozen yogurt and sherbet with some raspberry Greek yogurt which has been frozen, it won’t be the quite the same as Jamba’s version but still very delicious.

Also, if you don’t want to purchase both raspberry sherbet and frozen yogurt I’d probably go with the raspberry sherbet and maybe add in some vanilla yogurt if you have it on hand. Enjoy!

Ready in: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen blueberries
  • 1 1/4 cups raspberry sherbet
  • 3/4 cup fat free frozen yogurt
  • 1 cup berry blend juice , plus 1/4 cup more as needed*
  • 8 ice cubes

Instructions

  • Add bananas, blueberries, raspberry sherbet, frozen yogurt and berry blend juice to a blender, cover with lid and blend until well blended.
  • Add ice and blend until ice is fully processed and ice pieces no longer remain. Serve immediately.

Notes

*I just used reconstituted Old Orchard Berry Blend frozen concentrate (found by the frozen orange juice). Just be sure to get something that has 100% juice and contains preferably both apple and strawberry juice.
You can add 1/4 cup more juice if it is hard for your blender to chop and blend together without the additional liquid.
