Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies (tastes just like an Orange Milano, but better!)

These are officially my new favorite cookie!  They are one of the best cookies I’ve ever eaten!  These taste just like a Pepperidge Farm Orange Milano Cookie, but I think they are even better because they have all the flavors of that cookie but these are soft and chewy rather than crisp and crunchy.

I’ve been changing up flavors to all my favorite classics lately like Rice Krispie Treats and Oatmeal, so I decided it was time for a change with the Chocolate Chip Cookie.  So, I came up with this recipe.  I don’t know if there could be a better upgrade.  These cookies are a must try!  Enjoy.

PS just be sure you don’t skip out on the orange extract or the orange zest, if you leave one out you wont get that incredible, zesty orange flavor.  They are the key ingredients of this cookie recipe.

You should be able to find the orange extract in the spice section of the grocer/supermarket, it’s about $3-$6 and well worth it.

You may also like to try Oranges and Cream Cookies, they taste just like and orange creamsicle and they are made from the same dough as these cookies.

These were such a surprise! I made them for my nephew yesterday because he is an orange freak. I only made a 1/2 batch thinking no one would like them but him and boy was I surprised!!! They are amazing!!! I’m sorry I didn’t make a full batch. I must say they are probably the best cookie I have ever made. The texture is amazing. Soft & chewy but don’t fall apart after taking a bite. And the dough was so easy to scoop out. Thank you so much for such a great cookie recipe!!!

I made a batch of these wonderful cookies last weekend. I think they are way better than Pepperidge Farms, mostly because I like a chewy cookie rather than the dry airy texture of the P.F. ones. The only ingredient I changed is substituting 3/4 C bittersweet chips to the remning milk chocolate chips. I really liked the combination of chips and next time I will be trying it with some white chips thrown in and 1/2 C chopped pecans. These were so addictive I had to freeze the couple of dozen we had not scarffed down, so I would not eat the whole 4 dozen in 24 hrs. I hope I can forget about them until I have an emergency cookie attack. Thanks for a recipie for orange lovers & choco. chip cookie lovers that is very versitile & BIG on flavor.

Ellen – I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed these cookies! Thanks for returning to leave a comment! I think the pecans would be delicious. I know the feeling of being tempted to eat them all =).

Is there a way to throw some cream cheese into this recipe? this looks pretty close to what i would call the perfect cookie recipe, and my cookie game is getting better, but i still have some kinks to work out.

If I don’t have orange extract would fresh orange juice be okay to substitute?

Savannah – I wouldn’t recommend swapping for oj because it would take a lot of oj to get the same flavor the extract gives and that just wouldn’t work for cookie dough. I would just add more orange zest if you don’t want to buy the extract. I hope you enjoy!

Yeah I actually use orange extract a lot more than I thought I would. I just made some orange creamsicle cupcakes a few weeks ago you could try those out too if you are looking for another use for the orange extract. You can also add it to rice krispie treats and cover them with white chocolate, mmm yum yum yum. I love the flavor of oranges.
