Peaches and Cream Oatmeal is a delicious and old-fashioned breakfast that will make you think “Why have I been eating those bland oatmeal packets all this time?!” Juicy peaches, rich cream, hearty oats, and the perfect amount of spice make this the perfect breakfast or brunch dish.

No more buying oatmeal packets with those artificial peaches. This oatmeal with real peaches and real cream is so much better that, likely, you’ll never be able to return to the packets once you’ve tried this.

Peaches and Cream Oatmeal

Peaches and Cream Oatmeal

I eat oatmeal about 5 out of 7 days, I often even eat it as my nighttime snack before bed. Yeah, I love oatmeal just that much. I never thought I’d say it, but it’s true. My mom would always eat it every morning when I was little and I never would’ve thought that 15 years later I would be doing the same thing.  It’s such a great breakfast, because it keeps me full until lunch and I can remix it for whatever I’m craving!

Of course, I never eat it plain—simply sweetened with sugar or as she did by adding half a stick of butter. I always add other flavors or fruits.  Some of my favorites include Banana Oatmeal, Brown Sugar Maple Oatmeal, and Peaches and Cream!

Easy Oatmeal Breakfast

I made this using canned peaches because that is what I had on hand, and also I like the texture of the canned peaches along with the texture of the oatmeal. I rarely use canned fruit, but trust me this is one recipe where it works perfectly!

You could also substitute diced fresh strawberries in place of the peaches for Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal, indeed another favorite of mine (I’d recommend adding the strawberries after cooking though, and omitting the cinnamon).

Indulge, just a little, with this heavenly Peaches and Cream Oatmeal.  Turn a drab breakfast into something exciting!

Cook5 minutes
Ready in: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats*
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp packed light brown sugar or granulated sugar
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup canned peaches drained or fresh peaches, diced
  • 2 Tbsp cream or half-n-half

Instructions

  • In a large microwave safe bowl, combine oats, milk, water, sugar, optional cinnamon and salt. If using fresh peaches add them to oatmeal mixture before microwaving so they will cook and become softened.
  • Microwave mixture on HIGH power for 3 1/2 - 4 minutes. Remove from microwave and stir in vanilla. If using canned peaches fold them into oatmeal after microwaving. Drizzle oatmeal with cream. Serve warm.

Notes

  • *Quick oats will work too just reduce cook time by about 1 - 1 1/2 minutes.

It never said in the directions when to add the half n half. The oatmeal exploded all over my microwave. Im trying it again at only 2 minutes. Milk AND half and half? I used both. Seemed liked a lot of liquid with the water as well. Was i supposed to only pick one?

Sorry for the confusion, you do wait to add the half and half or cream until after.

Hello, amazing oatmeal and so quick and easy! I used soy milk, I don’t like cow’s milk and it was very good!

    Thanks!

This was great, very much like the oatmeal packets, but better. I used baby food peaches since I don’t like chunks and followed the rest of the recipe to a tee. If you want the traditional flavor, cream is the way to go, but other kinds of milk work well too!. Thank you for a wonderful recipe!

Used half coconut milk and regular milk left out cream and water. It was very good.

I’m eating this oatmeal as I type this. It is soooo good! I used peaches packed in water and used the water from the can because I thought it would make it “peachier”. I am so glad I found this recipe. No more pouches for me!

Sooooo good! I’ve been trying to ease into a somewhat natural food diet. I stumbled across your recipe while doing an online search and am so happy I found you. This is absolutely amazing. And this is coming from a woman who never really like oatmeal … Until now. Absolutely delicious! I eat it at least three times a week. Thank you!

Oh my goodness! So good! I had a serious craving for peaches and cream oatmeal like I used to have as a kid. I love oatmeal and eat it all the time but I only eat clean, whole, real food so the boxed kind is not an option. I figures I would Google to see if I could find a good recipe to try to satisfy my craving and I ran across your recipe, looked it over and thought I would give it a go. So glad I did! I am definitely keeping it for future use when I have that craving again! Or…maybe just when I want a late night sweet treat haha!
