Peaches and Cream Oatmeal is a delicious and old-fashioned breakfast that will make you think “Why have I been eating those bland oatmeal packets all this time?!” Juicy peaches, rich cream, hearty oats, and the perfect amount of spice make this the perfect breakfast or brunch dish.

No more buying oatmeal packets with those artificial peaches. This oatmeal with real peaches and real cream is so much better that, likely, you’ll never be able to return to the packets once you’ve tried this.

Peaches and Cream Oatmeal

I eat oatmeal about 5 out of 7 days, I often even eat it as my nighttime snack before bed. Yeah, I love oatmeal just that much. I never thought I’d say it, but it’s true. My mom would always eat it every morning when I was little and I never would’ve thought that 15 years later I would be doing the same thing.  It’s such a great breakfast, because it keeps me full until lunch and I can remix it for whatever I’m craving!

Of course, I never eat it plain—simply sweetened with sugar or as she did by adding half a stick of butter. I always add other flavors or fruits.  Some of my favorites include Banana Oatmeal, Brown Sugar Maple Oatmeal, and Peaches and Cream!

Easy Oatmeal Breakfast

I made this using canned peaches because that is what I had on hand, and also I like the texture of the canned peaches along with the texture of the oatmeal. I rarely use canned fruit, but trust me this is one recipe where it works perfectly!

You could also substitute diced fresh strawberries in place of the peaches for Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal, indeed another favorite of mine (I’d recommend adding the strawberries after cooking though, and omitting the cinnamon).

Indulge, just a little, with this heavenly Peaches and Cream Oatmeal.  Turn a drab breakfast into something exciting!

Ready in: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats*
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp packed light brown sugar or granulated sugar
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup canned peaches drained or fresh peaches, diced
  • 2 Tbsp cream or half-n-half

Instructions

  • In a large microwave safe bowl, combine oats, milk, water, sugar, optional cinnamon and salt. If using fresh peaches add them to oatmeal mixture before microwaving so they will cook and become softened.
  • Microwave mixture on HIGH power for 3 1/2 - 4 minutes. Remove from microwave and stir in vanilla. If using canned peaches fold them into oatmeal after microwaving. Drizzle oatmeal with cream. Serve warm.

Notes

  • *Quick oats will work too just reduce cook time by about 1 - 1 1/2 minutes.

I absolutely love this recipe!! I change it up sometimes and add in dried cherries or apples. And I use dried peaches instead of canned or fresh! If using rolled oats cut the water down to 1/4 cup or less! If using quick oats full water and only 2 mins cook time! I got my mom hooked on this stuff also!!

I like this recipe but I reduce the amount of milk and water. I made this exactly as the directions say the first time and it came out very soupy

My 10 year old son and I LOVE this recipe! I send it hot for lunch in one of those Thermos containers and I’m telling you, this kid never wants to find a turkey sandwich in his lunch again! We’ve done frozen, fresh, and canned peaches – frozen (chopped then microwaved for 30 seconds to soften) are my favorite, as well as strawberries, blueberries, and tomorrow morning I’m going to try apples and extra cinnamon! Very versatile recipe. The heavy cream at the end isn’t necessary but it makes it soooo decadent and over the top. Thank you so much for this amazing recipe I will use for years and years!!!

Just wanted to let you know that this recipe has been part my pre-gym breakfast for years (minus the sugar). Thank you!

After searching high and low for the instant packs (I’m pregnant and it’s all I want ?), I came across your recipe. And it sounds delicious. Will be trying it tomorrow!

I thought this recipe was easy and delicious. Definitely watch it closely in the microwave because mine boiled over and I lost half of it on my first go ’round. I’d also suggest doubling or even tripling the recipe because you’ll mostly likely want more :)
