Thai Chicken Tacos

Thai Chicken Tacos with Peanut Sauce

Who says tacos can only have Mexican flavors? That’s actually what I always used to think until I tried tacos switched up with different types of cuisine, like these Greek Tacos. Once you expand beyond the Mexican style tacos you’ll open a whole new world of taco possibilities.

These Thai Chicken Tacos with Peanut Sauce are easy to make and they are packed with flavor! They’re so good they deserve to be added along to the rotation with these shredded beef and pork tacos.

This chicken would also be perfect for a Thai style salad with a peanut dressing or in a rice or noodle bowl. The chicken is so flavorful thanks to the marinade which consists of robust and vibrant ingredients like lime juice, soy sauce, brown sugar and fish sauce. And don’t worry I’m still getting used to fish sauce so my recipes stick with smaller amounts so it’s not overbearing. If you’d like more, by all means go ahead.

Taco tuesday just got an incredibly delicious new addition! We absolutely loved these and I hope you do too!

How to Make Thai Style Grilled Chicken Tacos

  1. Make the marinade: Place chicken in a gallon size resealable bag, seal bag then pound chicken to 1/2-inch thickness. In a bowl whisk together lime juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, vegetable oil, fish sauce, sriracha, garlic, ginger, cilantro and green onions. Pour mixture over chicken in bag and seal bag. Rub marinade over chicken, transfer to refrigerator and allow to marinate 2 – 4 hours.
  2. Make the peanut sauce: Prepare peanut sauce by whisking together peanut butter, brown sugar, lime juice, soy sauce garlic, ginger, sriracha and hot sauce in a medium bowl.
  3. Grill the chicken: Heat a grill to 400 degrees over medium-high heat. Brush grill grates with oil then transfer chicken to grill. Grill until chicken registers 165 in center, about 5 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate and rest 5 minutes then cut into strips or cubes. Serve over tortillas with toppings listed and peanut sauce.

Overall, this is a great recipe. I did cheat and shred a Costco chicken instead of grilling my own. Otherwise, I pretty much did exactly as written.

The standout of the recipe is the peanut sauce. I have been looking for a good peanut sauce for years and this is my top pick. My family likes things on the spicy side, so I do add more sriracha sauce – probably double to triple, but otherwise I also make this as written. We use it assorted ways; I love to use as a dip for vegetables –
    cucumber is perfect.

    Thank you for this recipe.

Delicious tacos with great Thai flavors. We left the red pepper out and didnt miss it at all. We also left the peanut sauce out and just sprinkled crushed peanuts on top. This recipe is a keeper!

This is sooo flavourful and delicious!
I’m obsessed with the peanut sauce. I had many compliments from my husband and his friend when I made it for them! :)

This is basically the world’s greatest peanut sauce and so easy! Love love love! I prefer mine a bit wetter, so I add about 1/2 cup more hot water. I have also tried this recipe cutting the sugar down by 1/2 (using store peanut butter that already has some sugar), and it was still equally amazing. The most recent time I made this, I had a genius idea and used the meat to make taquitos (put 2-3 TBSP meat mix into each small tortilla, roll tightly, brush with oil, bake at 400 for 15-20 min until brown. Then dip the taquitos in the wetter peanut sauce. IT WAS AWESOME. Even my three year old love it and scarfed down his taquito!

Made this and add both pork and chicken and it was fantastic. 7 adults and everyone raved about it. I did add a little ginger.
